Put it on my Bill
Duckfat in Portland, Maine calls itself a Fry and Sandwich Shop. We automatically give top marks to anywhere that gives chips top billing. Not only are the fries genuinely cooked in duck fat, the choice of dipping sauces includes Truffle Ketchup. If you think it has anything else in common with it's UK reverse namesake you're wrong: from the menu it looks like you'd be waddling out for less than twenty bucks. Congee Wong
The first time I ever had congee was at Yauatcha in London. When ordering the waitress came close and whispered into my ear "You DO know what it is, don't you?". I did. And it was delicious. Sadly the restaurant obviously had so little demand that they had to cook it specially and it arrived at the end of my meal when I was already stuffed. At Congee Wong in Ontario it's a different story. Their take-away menu has a whole section devoted to this delightfully unctuous rice porridge which is so popular in many Asian countries. I predict that one day it will be a staple on UK shores. Until then we'll have to stick to oats.
Choccy Pizzas
Pizza Hut Brazil appears to serve pizzas as puddings topped with such delicacies as M&Ms (pictured), bananas and even slices of Twix. They call them 'Brigadeiros' named after a traditional chocolate truffles which are often homemade. The big question is: Will they deliver to the UK? Full menu here (Portugese).
